Bidra med feedbackAs one of the biggest reviewers of Indian restraunts in Britain, it is important that I give an honest account and opinion. My aim is not to destroy reputation but to improve curry for everybody. I walked into a very clean establishment, the waiters had a great sense of humour but it was like a giant lads clubs between waiters and delivery drivers chatting and joking, it almost felt like they forgot about their customers! The place was empty apart from two other people, NAAN down the road was significantly more busy. The pickle tray and poppadoms were OK, but the onion and tomatoes were barely cut and very large making it hard to pick out with a tea spoon...that is just pure laziness on the kitchens part! My friends chicken Bhuna turned up luke warm and he described it as nothing special. My South Indian garlic chilli lamb looked the part, however the lamb was more rubbery than my wallet and like an elastic band with so many stringy bits in the lamb. To my horror I found a stringy peice of plastic in my tomato! Unreal! The bombay potatoes were overcooked and mushy. However the keema rice was lovely and the best part of the meal...why on earth is it not on the menu? Its a very common rice dish that the people want! The website menu needs updating as it's years old and misleading on price, as is the menu right outside! I feel that Ali's have got themselves into a cycle of laziness and to survive in the curry world, they just can't afford to continue with this attitude. The pricing was the only benefit, quite a cheap curry but I would have preferred to pay more for higher quality. Won't be hurrying back, highly recommend Bombay Palace at the other end of town. Mr Curry.
I ordered just for myself. I had the chicken Korma and it was very very tasty perfect consistency! Probably the best Korma Ive ever had and included lots of chunks of chicken. The popdadom and garlic nan were lovely too however Naan was slightly cold however I did pick my order up slightly late. Would highly recommend this indian restaurant
There are not many Indian restaurants I will go to (following a bad experience) always happy to visit Ali’s as it’s constantly good. Situated in a not particularly appealing part of Bournemouth it is always full which must be testament to their food. The restaurant is your typical Indian style of restaurant (a bit like a converted large front room) As is usual, restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived for a midweek family dinner. It very soon filled up. Food was excellent, large portions a friendly service from the waiting staff.
7pm on a Monday and we arrived, asking for a table for 2! …being new to the area and looking to try the place out… There was only one table of guests (family of 3) we were told (quite rudely) that they were fully booked. Long-term business lost and I’ll not be recommending this place!
Only popped in on the off chance. At 9.20 p.m. First visit after being told this place was good. Door said open until midnight. Turned away when we walked in. Closed apparently? Basically not a good reception. Will never return
