Romerburg - Boppard

Our experience with this restaurant is somewhat mixed. The food was excellent, yet surprisingly the portions were, unlike almost everywhere in Germany, small and a few courses are needed if you are hungry. The service was lacking we had to wait quite...a long time for a table. Also, our main dish was not served all at once and one of us had to wait a long time or start eating, which made it awkward. The staff was friendly, but nothing above average.

We have been staying in Boppard for a week and have visited the Romerburg twice. It has to be said the service is painfully slow even though the staff seem to move at high speed and the resteraunt isn't that large. On the first evening...the pork pannekin was absolutely excellent and well worth the money. On the second visit it just wasn't as nice and the boar burger was lukewarm even though the fries were hot. Maybe just a mistake but on both visits the bill was wrong, on the first visit 2 glasses of wine were added and on the second 100ml glasses of wine were served even though only 200ml glasses are on the menu with 100ml servings not even being an option to choose. On both occasions when the errors were raised it was corrected immediately. However if I hadn't picked up on it over two nights the venue would have been up nearly 20 euros. Worth a try and not bad food but keep a close eye on measures and the bill at the end.

Lovely restaurant. We sat outside under the umbrellas. Great staff and everyone enjoyed their meals. Typical German with some other interesting choices as well. We live in Germany and I eat a lot of schnitzel but this one was very good. We sat there playing cards after we ate and they were happy to let us just stay there. Lovely evening.

Two visits in the week, the second to see if the food was just as good as the first. The food was superb, the service excellent, the wine delicious and a fantastic atmosphere. A must visit for traditional and international cuisine.
