Tre Scalini - BOLOGNA

I went on a Sunday morning in October 2023, for the first time. The management had changed, at least in my memories of 30 years earlier. Behind the counter a young man of Peruvian origins (who speaks and understands Italian and Spanish perfectly) and a young tattooed woman, very thoughtful, fast and kind. The choice of pasta was quite limited: perhaps the best ones were already finished. The coffee was nothing special, even after adding a sachet of sugar. The bathroom had no seat for women and elderly people to sit. I was just passing through, so that's fine.

Bar Tre Scalini is a must in Bologna. It maintains its role as a great aggregator, if you don't know where to meet for a coffee the Tre Scalini is still a good meeting point today, also due to the presence of the tobacconist service and the outdoor tables in the dehor. Respect the anti-COVID safety measures, the staff is trained, kind and immediately ready to welcome the customer. We must give credit to these places where, despite this pandemic causing heavy restrictions, they maintain the offer of fresh pastry products rather than taking refuge in industrial frozen pastas. Try the empty dessert because it is truly excellent, light and crunchy. The bar also offers the possibility of filling the brioche as you like with jams of your choice and with the superlative Nutella and everything on the spot. But let's talk about the coffee shop, because here you can taste and enjoy the best cappuccino in Bologna: offered in a large glass cup it looks like a velvet of compacted milk cream without air bubbles which you can enjoy by scooping it up like cream or mixing it to make creamy all the milk. If you then ask for it with cocoa, correctly applied before pouring the milk, you will no longer be able to do without it. All staff serve the same quality cappuccino. If you pass through Bologna, take a moment to enjoy a good old bar with an excellent coffee shop. And more....

For celebrations, on Sundays, when you are out and about and you need everything from cigarettes to ice cream to coffee, a unique and irreplaceable place. Reminiscent of fascinating ancient times. Open until late at night. Also open in the morning at seven, excellent for breakfast. Kind and good staff make a special cappuccino. The brioches are excellent.
