Bidra med feedbackWe had a wonderful experience here yesterday. Overall a solid 4.25! Food was pretty good, service was ok and the atmosphere was good minus not a lot of shade outside.
Food is a little overrated for the price. They charge way too much for a sandwhich here and they charged an extra dollar on the bill from what was on the menu so check your bill. Atmosphere is good nice outdoor seating but it's overrated for what the place is really.
Located in the heart of Main Street in Blowing Rock, Six Pence reflects the memories I had during my college life, in ‘78-‘ 82, of Blowing Rock before the downtown became a tourist attraction. We ordered the pub burger and sweet potato fries and both were excellent. The burger was large and cooked perfectly. The fries were the best ever. Crisply on the outside and wedge cut giving a nice bite of soft sweet potato. When you indulge you want to feel like the calories were worth it. This lunch helped replace the horrible meal we had at Best Cellar the previous night.
I made a reservation for 8 people. The front desk representative did not inform me that our party will be split in two, since they couldn’t merge the two tables together. Had they informed me before hand, we would have picked another spot for dinner. When we got there, it was very chaotic. They didn’t know who would be serving us, so we had to wait a few minutes to get our server. A few of us wanted drinks. The bar was backed up to a point where it took us 20-25 minutes to get our drinks (most of us only ordered beers). At this point, all the members of the group were frustrated with the pace at which the bartender was serving drinks. We tried to complain to the manager, but they did not even entertain our complaint. The food came out before the drinks. Although the food was good, the entire experience was well below par. I have been to the Savannah GA location and had a great experience there. But this one was not close to the same standards at all.
They were out of bangars at 4 in the afternoon! Also, out of Coke Zero. My diet Coke had no carbonation (weird cause its a bar, so they should have that down . Shepherd's pie needs a little seasoning, side salad was perfect. Cole slaw was the worst I've ever tasted... it's not hard to make good slaw, mayo and vinegar do wonders (maybe a little salt too . As it was it had no flavor at all. The corned beef Ruben was pretty good. I like that there's a choice of bread. Couldn't really taste much saurkraut though. Bourbon pecan pie was wonderful. The bread pudding (a huge portion, BTW , was a bit dry. The topping on it was un-identifiable (maybe a white drizzle of icing? and not tasty. A carmel topping would be great. Nice atmosphere. Great server. Street parking only and good luck with that. We circled and happened to get lucky, but that was 4 pm.
