Bidra med feedbackWhat do you look for in a cider mill? Donuts? Of course preferably warm and just baked. Apples to purchase and take home? Sure in season, I look for good pie and sauce apples. Can find them here. And of course, the cider. Has to be fresh, and prefer to see the machinery in action. Franklin has you covered here. The only drawback to the place is this: during peak cider season, the bees tend to swarm. If you can deal with that, this is the place to spend a crisp fall Michigan day.
My favorite cider mill in the area is Franklin Cider Mill!! For one, everyone who works here is so genuine and sweet, making it a lovely experience. Secondly, the assortment is always fun to go browse and try new apple-infused things. I love to stop here for a hot cider and donuts before or after any event... fall only comes once a year so I try to make the most of it! Only 4/5 because the donuts aren't very good when you buy them and I feel like that affects my experience. Although with the donut sprinkled and heating them back up, they're a lot better, especially when dipped in warm cider. It's worth mentioning that there is a river with lots of ducks which creates a peaceful and entertaining ambiance. Therefore, coming here can be a quick or more drawn-out activity depending on what you're in the mood for. They even have music sometimes! Must try in Michigan!
I've been going here since I was a teenager..a few decades. It has evolved a lot from what I remember. It's really nice to see all the outside seating and outside store that is available now. There is a decent size parking lot. I went on a Thursday around 4, and there were small lines outside and no lines inside. We went inside and ordered the hot cider and two donuts. The hot cider was really good and was close to $6 for about a 12oz cup. I thought the price was high but was really in the mood for some hot cider. We usually get a dozen donuts and they are really fresh, hot, and delicious. This day, we only ordered the two, so they came to close to $2 a piece. They were fairly small and were room temperature. They still had a really nice flavor to them. I would def. go back but would probably ask from the donuts to be fresh next time.
TLDR : Always clean, ample parking and great customer service! A Bloomfield Hills Staple! The donuts are always fresh and if you're like me, you'll dip them in your warm cider for the perfect bite of all flavors! The indoors outdoors are something to be marveled at. The line wraps around this cute area that shows how the cider is made while you're waiting. I love to follow a single apple through it's whole journey to see the final product yes I know it's nerdy. Overall, Franklin Cider Mill brings back old timey memories of traditional family hang outs that are lasting memories. I can't wait to come back with my kids and have them experience a piece of my childhood. Luna (our goldendoodle) also approves of these donuts!
It's cider mill season in michigan!! Franklin seemed like a great close place to try. I like how dog friendly the place is. There were tons of leashed dogs out. The tents had a plethora of items to buy outside of cider. Most being pretty good. The cons.... The donuts are horrible. Chewy, only offered in plain and just not good even warm. The other mills have them beat hands down there. The cider seemed a little watery compared to other mills we visited this season. There are not any activities for kids outside of feeding ducks. if you just want a nice afternoon out with your dog, this is your place.
