The Maroon Door - Blacksburg

Food and service here are excellent! Really loved the unique pub-style food. The lamb burger with tzatziki sauce, spinach, and tomato was on a spinach roll and really good! Beware, the bratwurst was VERY SPICY! For someone who likes spicy, this was a painful, tear-inducing spice level. The fries were excellent and delightfully crispy. Lots of seating inside and outside. Would be great if the servers were wearing face masks to keep themselves and their customers safe.

True gastropub in the heart of Blacksburg. While the dishes sound familiar on the menu, the creativity of this restaurant makes each dish unique and deliciously yummy. Now add the home brewed beers and you have a most satisfying combination. One word of caution, if you are a donut connoisseur, do NOT order the donut holes. I would return to this restaurant.

Best place to eat in Blacksburg!!! You must give it a try! I had flank steak with an amazing creamy sauce!!!! Great vibe here, too. Super service! 10 stars!!!! My son had pistachio crusted porchops--fabulous! All Hokies need to eat here!

I had dinner there with my sister Sunday evening, around 7-8 pm. We both thought we had plenty of time considering their website said they closed at 10. We both start with some drinks and the mozzarella bites app. The appetizer was pretty yummy, very nice combination of sweet and spicy. My ceasar salad was okay. The croutons were so hard that I couldn't stick my fork in them, probably won't order it again. My steak was pretty good, a little under the medium I had ordered,but I didn't mind. My sister, however, had ordered a bacon cheeseburger, and when it came out, it didn't have any bacon, and she also stated how hard her bread was. Our server also didn't really check on us often because I assume they weredoing their closing duties, and they started locking up at 9 pm, which just confused me a lot and made me feel very rushed. My sister ended up walking around the restaurant to grab another server to get the bacon she had asked for, and thenwhen our server inevitability brought out the bacon, she stated that she had only ordered a cheeseburger. Which is whatever mistakes happen, but she could have been a lot nicer about it. After finishing my steak, I just wanted to relax andwanted to ask for some coffee and dessert. Our server came up. I guess, expecting us to want to pay and asked me if I wanted a tea to go before she tossed it out. I appreciate it, but again, I just felt very rushed and not welcome. I didn'tend up asking for coffee, but I did get the espresso creme brulee, which was very delicious. Overall, it's not amazing, but not awful.

Today was my first time here. We came for a work related event and stayed for lunch. Absolutely amazing! Chris was our server and he is hands down the best server I have had in a long time ???? We had a large group to work with (30) and he did amazing. Everyone should have a server like Chris!He even recommended my burger. Which was absolutely delicious!!
