Southern Caribbean - Birmingham

I can't wait to return for some curry chicken! This past Sunday, I was craving oxtails, so I looked it up on Google Maps and found Southern Caribbean. I also tried the spicy beef and chicken patties. Oh my goodness, I will definitely be back soon!

I’ve never experienced anything like it before—ordering from a restaurant and nearly crying from the deliciousness of the food. It was the most exquisite meal I’ve had in a long time. You can truly taste the passion in the cooking. I ordered the jerk pasta, and it brought me to tears because it reminded me so much of my world-traveling mother’s cooking, which I had not tasted since she passed away in 2015. Despite not being able to handle spice well (I can’t even finish a bag of Takis in one sitting), I found myself craving bite after bite of that amazing jerk pasta, taking breaks only to savor the experience. It was that exceptional. My boyfriend tried the chicken curry, and the meat just melted in our mouths—it was incredibly tender and juicy. This food rivals what you’d expect from a top-tier restaurant, but it comes from a small family-run establishment. Don’t let the location or the decor mislead you; this place is a hidden gem with wonderful food. I will definitely be recommending it to all my friends.

I've eaten here countless times. This was my first experience with Caribbean cuisine, and it opened up a whole new world for me. I found myself dining here every day for a while. The food is excellent, and the cook/owner is very friendly.

Service was quick. The plates of curried goat and jerk chicken, each had rice n peas with steamed cabbage, both looked great with decent portions IMO and each were very pleasing to the palate. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Another Winner for Dinner! This was the real deal. I ordered Ecoveitched fish, Jamaican style with Onions and peppers, green beans and stream cabbage. This was a winner dinner. #TEAMSMILEY #PLAYTOWIN
