Sam's Club Cafe - Birmingham

I was waiting for a ham sample that was already prepared, but when one worker stepped away and called out to me, "Ma'am, you're not supposed to take that!" I was taken aback. I apologized and said I would put it back, even though multiple customers had already helped themselves to the same sample. I'm not sure what the issue was, but this isn't typical of my experiences at Sam’s. Additionally, I couldn’t help but notice the state of the bathroom. As another customer commented while washing her hands, "Oh wow, Sam's is going downhill." I couldn't agree more! This is an easy fix, as we wouldn't want minor issues to overshadow the overall experience at the store. On a positive note, I want to extend my thanks to the other employees, including two gentlemen and a few ladies, who kindly offered samples with the warmth and charm we expect from Sam’s Club. Thank you! I felt it was important to share my thoughts because this really is my favorite Sam's Club. However, I know I have other options in the area if things don’t improve.

Sams always seems to be bustling with customers, which can make the experience a bit less enjoyable. Being summer, I think that’s a big part of the reason for the crowds. I used to love visiting when school was in session because it was usually quiet, allowing me to browse at my leisure. Despite the crowds, I still appreciate the great deals available there. The value-sized bags of chips, snacks, and candy are unbeatable. We also enjoy picking up Gatorade, water, and beer; it's often cheaper than at the grocery store and super convenient, especially with curbside pickup—you don’t even have to lift a finger. When we do go inside, we usually use the scan-and-go feature, which is really convenient. The only downside is that sometimes the location feature doesn’t work properly, and you have to connect to their WiFi for it to recognize that you're in the store, which is a bit frustrating. However, this doesn’t happen every time.

The pizza is excellent—just the right amount of cooking; neither overdone nor undercooked. The hot dogs are also quite tasty. It's a fantastic place for a quick snack. They offer churros and Icees as well. While the service can be a bit off, the delicious food and affordable prices definitely make up for it.

Worst Sam’s I have ever been in by a long shot. Poor management especially in the deli area. Workers could care less and stand around talking instead of taking orders and prepping food. Must be a common occurrence because the customer in front of us told us every time she comes in here and the same group is working they say the equipment is not working so they do not have to serve it. Poor management.

I tend to come to Sam's once or twice a month for household items that are at a better price here and last me way longer than purchasing from anywhere else. I really like the convenience of being able to get a quick lunch before or after shopping, although the weekends it tends to get super crowded and hard to navigate with a shopping cart. The overall atmosphere is pretty average.
