Rodney Scott's Bbq Birmingham

Shame on me!!!!!Rodney’s has been a fixture in Avondale for a number of years now and last night was the first time I ate there.Picked up a barbecue loving friend at the airport and needed a place to eat on the way out of town. We walked in as they were cleaning up to close for the night and they treated us great. Being two of the four customers, we received excellent service, great conversation about the restaurant and cooking, a tour of the pits and a sample of what is the best brisket I have ever eaten. But, I’m only 70 and have lived in the south all of my life. So, there might be better out there, but I doubt it.We enjoyed the pulled whole hog sandwiches, fries and drinks for a very reasonable price while visiting with the pit master and wait staff. Excellent barbecue, service, professionalism and hospitality.Thanks for the meal and the dining experience especially during closing hours and while getting ready for the next day.

My husband has been wanting to try Rodney Scott’s for a long time, so we drove an hour to the Homewood location. We give the ribs, wings potato salad 10/10! The mac cheese collard greens were also top notch. We didn’t care for the sauces. When we’re in town, we’ll be sure to return!

Decent brisket.It's good but not amazing. A bit dry.Overall still a nice bbq place to visit. The small family atmosphere is cool and you can see the smokers while you eat.Food: 4/5

Our first time in Birmingham. Our first stop was here at Rodney Scott’s. I have been a big fan of his for a while. Glad I finally got to try some of his food, and it did not disappoint. The whole hog pulled pork was phenomenal. The sides were excellent. Great Mac n cheese and greens! Tater salad was also on point. We are here for about a week for baseball and will definitely be back! And shout out to Roger for the tour and conversation! Great spot. Great people

Wow! What an experience!!!!!!! As a team, we came in and instantly felt like family! Auntie Lakeitha (affectionately deemed by me) was sooooo kind, warm, accommodating and filled with joy! Her passion alone makes the experience 10/10. The food was BOMB! In my Keith Lee voice, “for sure you’re right!” Literally everything was cooked so well, seasoned and made with love! If we lived here, we’d be here every week!!!! Thank you for such a warm intro to Alabama!! That Nana pudding is a MUST!
