Lorne Wine - Biddeford

Always fun to go to a place that reminds you of travel and foreign voyages! Going to Lorne and looking through all their artisanal wines is always enjoyable for me. Love the bottle art and chatting with the wine lovers who work there. And the wine is always a delight, too ?

There aren't many wine bars in Biddeford or the greater Portland area; it's primarily known for microbreweries and craft distilleries. However, I wanted to give this place a shot before heading up the street for dinner. I found it unusual that I was the only customer at around 5:00 PM on a Friday in June, but it's not exactly a typical happy hour spot. Along with the day's special wines by the glass, they offered a selection of beers on draft as well as in bottles and cans, plus a champagne option. I tried the Grüner Veltliner, Austria's flagship white wine. It's a light-bodied wine with bright citrus notes of lemon, lime, and grapefruit, quite comparable to a great Sauvignon Blanc, and I found it delicious. They didn’t offer any small plates, just a few snack options. The ambiance is quite nice, making it a perfect spot to sample some exceptional wines that you might not have tried before.

This is the only restaurant of its kind in the area, and I highly recommend it! The owners are fantastic and knowledgeable about wine. This place is a gem and definitely a must-visit if you’re in Biddeford.

What a fun wine bar and bottle shop! It's an unpretentious environment with class, if that makes sense.The folks there are happy to help you figure out what wine you might be into, even if you don't know specifics.Pours are generous, and the prices are fair! Take-home bottles start at under $20.

I 've been to Lorne many times to buy wine to-go and also to sit in for a glass. The staff at Lorne is super knowledgeable about wine and always willing to teach me something new! I love their dedication to stocking unique wines and enjoy their open-concept store. Their clear the cooler specials are great, as well as their $1 oysters (keep tabs on their Instagram to know when this is happening). They collab with other local businesses and host fun pop-up events as well. Lorne rocks!
