Le Grand Couvert - Besançon

We have eaten here twice now. Once last year and just recently. Most disappointed both times. Considering this is the only restaurant, plus another smaller snack bar, in the Citadelle, it should be much better. We notice most people take picnics and I would recommend this in future to anyone visiting. The picnic spots are fabulous. The restaurant food is awful. Our lamb, plus the people next door to us who had the same found it extremely tough and fatty we were laughing together about it.

This is situated in the courtyard of the Citadelle and we did not have high hopes but the food was as good as any stand-alone restaurant. Good menu choices, generous portions and well presented tasty food. Service was excellent in spite of the restaurant being full (it was pouring down outside! . So often restaurants at historic attractions are not as interesting as the place where it is situated so this was a very pleasant surprise

Visited the aforementioned restaurant when at the citadelle de Besancon and were treated by really professional staff. The meal was great for the price I had the chicken supreme breast which was served with potatoes sliced and salad, and the tap water delivered was refreshingly cold. A very clean restaurant . Worth another visit.

Beautiful ham with a gray morbier for me, my husband took a cassolette with a taste of pesto out of the standard, delicious fried vegetables and our friends we eat beautiful burgers with a gorgeous cream sauce on the other hand should be more pro because the kitchen is worth the candle. small dish behind the kitchens its heats the bell continues to ring sorry I am from the trade it is easy to understand

A visit to the citadel, a stop to eat a joyous service a perfect cuisine of flavors and originality bravo to the chef
