Mutzenbacher - Berlin

We wanted a hearty meal and this restaurant delivered that. All three of us had schnitzel and the portion was generous. The accompanyingpotato and cucumber salad was delicious. I had good Grunerveiltiner and my husband had Zweigwelt which was very good also. The beer is bottled. This was a welcoming place on a Sunday night.

Used to be good. Food is still not bad, but rather expensive. Service way to cool. However it's still stylish

A local friend took me here after I had inquired about a place to get good schnitzel and spätzle in Berlin. Everything about this restaurant from the location, to the ambiance to the staff is excellent. The music was surprisingly modern and upbeat - no classic Austrian music here although I wouldn't have minded that either! We sat inside and the tables have wax candles on them which sets a nice tone. The art on the walls is also cool.The food was delicious; we started with the beetroot carpaccio and beers served from the bottle and poured into tall glasses. As you can guess, I ordered the Kaiser Schnitzel with a side of spätzle. I did have to request sauce because the spätzle by itself was very dry. I've had better spätzle, but it was still good - the schnitzel on the other hand was perfect. My friend's entree was also perfect: the spinatknöderl. Service was timely and attentive.My only complaint for this restaurant is the price - I wasn't a big spender on this month-long trip so this place was the most expensive meal that I had. One beer, one appetizer, two entrees and kaiserschmarren for dessert cost us 70 euro in total. What killed me was the large water, which came out to more than 7 euro. I was pretty upset about that - so my lesson learned is to check the price on beverages before ordering! I would definitely go back here and recommend this restaurant if you are prepared to spend on a proper meal.

Friendly, loud, fun neighborhood restaurant with outdoor seating, generous portions of "down home" food, and good beer selection.

Family of 3, we had dinner. friendly staff at the onset although not particularly attentive. We had 3 dishes and a few glasses of wine. The food quality was very nice (wiener schnitzel and cheese knudle) but the quantities are spartiate. The bill was too high (80€) for what we got. The waitress strongly suggested that we did not tip her enough... All together a poor experience. We would not go back...
