Townie - Berkeley

Food is excellent and good value. Casual, feeling neighborhood. Many families eat. Bar was empty, dining room full on Saturday night.

Our dining experience at Townie was extremely underwhelming. Although most of our dishes were satisfactory, one item was completely different from what was listed on the menu and did not improve much even after being sent back to the kitchen. The service was also lacking, with multiple staff members approaching our table to take our order. Our primary waiter seemed overwhelmed and distracted throughout the meal, forgetting items and appearing to wander aimlessly around the restaurant instead of attending to our table and others he was serving. Overall, we were very disappointed and have no desire to return to this establishment.

The cocktail I had was fabulous. The food was good. The service was good, but it was quite empty.

Cocktails were uninteresting and the food was totally uninspiring. Each dish felt as if it was composed of ingredients to impress but nothing special. The main course of chicken, polnta and spinach was not a single notch above average home cooking. Disappoint.
