The Shamrock - Bendigo

It was clean and the staff were great. If you are expecting dated accommodation in small rooms with no mod cons such as power points near the bed for charging... you will be very happy. Also, this area can be noisy at night, on the weekends. That might not worry you.

Food was great but service needs to get better. Was involved in a booking of 8,but was originally told that we'd be scattered, and eventually 8 of us were jammed onto a 6 seater table. Drinks and food were very slow in coming too. Several people were served ahead of us, that arrived well after we did.

Meal was terrible. Rice undercooked. Nan bread burnt. Meat was fatty. Service was dreadful. Had to wait at table for drink orders so consequently had to wait to long that my husband had to them go and get them. Dirty plates left on the table far to long. Empty glasses on the table no one came to take orders for more drinks. We left and went somewhere else for desert and drinks. Never going there again.

Turned up with work collegues (group of 10) at 2pm Monday, even though there was 2 staff behind the bar, and 4 people inside, they couldnt find a way to accommodate for us. Which was fine, well go elsewhere for lunch, and drinks, wont even come back tonight for dinner either. I think its amazing with that level of customer service that you can afford to throw away tables and large accounts. Business must be thriving with that kind of attitude towards patrons

Don’t bother with the high tea at the Shamrock. We went for a work Christmas party and were severely disappointed. Where do I even start? Our expectation was a proper high tea…lots of bite sized food with pots of real leaf tea. Reality was more of a slap together school lunch. The sandwiches were not club sandwiches ham and tomato, cut in half and served with thick crusts. The sweet food was over processed and not enjoyable. Coffee and tea were served at a help yourself table, with hospital crockery, luke warm water from the urn and long life pods of milk like you get when you go to a hotel (only on requested). The customer service was non existent…our dirty plates were left on the table for hours, and no drinks were offered, not even bottles of water. The one cocktail I did order lacked any sugar so tasted less than ideal! Apart from the lovely company, the day was very disappointing!
