Bidra med feedbackDining at this restaurant is a pleasant experience but is quite expensive. The Sydney Opera House recently changed operators after their contract with the previous cafe ended. The new operator is not up to par. My wife and I ordered meatballs with bread and a beet salad, along with two glasses of wine and a coffee, which totaled $94. Unfortunately, my wife's coffee came in a paper cup and wine was served in plastic cups. They also do not offer decaf coffee. The staff was unapologetic when we complained. The main issue with this restaurant is that there are limited dining options at the Sydney Opera House before a show. The fine dining option at Benelong restaurant is currently unavailable. Overall, this restaurant is not the best choice for a meal before a show at this popular tourist destination in Sydney.
We dined at this restaurant and it was very disappointing. Despite its convenient location in front of the theater, we will not be returning. The food and drinks were overpriced, with a beer priced at $8.50. One dish, an aubergine and bean casserole, was acceptable, but the others were mostly disappointing. Particularly bad was the lamb dish, which was overcooked and had gummy pasta. Our friends ordered a gourmet sandwich platter from a different section of the bar on the same night and enjoyed a similar view for a much lower price.
We used to dine at "The Corner House at the House" near the theater for some time, but the restaurant has now changed ownership and name. We used to enjoy our meals there as a group, but we were disappointed last night. Despite its convenient location near the theater with a great view of the Harbour Bridge and water, this cafe did not meet our expectations. The menu is limited and the portions are small, resembling tapas, but the prices are high. The service, provided by a few young ladies, was slow and average, although they were friendly. The electronic payment took multiple attempts to go through, causing some frustration. The food was bland, especially the pasta, chorizo, and bread. While the theater production was enjoyable, we will not be returning to this cafe as it tainted our evening. There are plenty of other dining options nearby for future visits to the opera house.
The food here is woeful and overpriced. The Sydney Opera House Trust recently brought in this operator after terminating its contract with the Cafe Studio—always an excellent place to eat before a concert. We have just tried the new incumbent, but never again. My wife and I each ordered a meagre dish of meatballs (with two uneatable, rock-solid lumps of bread) and a beetroot salad. The meal included two glasses of wine and a coffee. This cost $94. My wife’s coffee came in a paper cup (the “only way” they serve large cappuccinos); no wineglasses are available—wine (including white) is served in tumblers; and quite unapologetically, they don’t serve decaf coffee. The staff were insouciant and untroubled when we complained. Beware of this place. The problem is that if you don’t want to queue in the crowded food bars of Circular Quay East or you wish to avoid the cramped and stifling environment of Cafe Mozart cafeteria in the foyer, there is nowhere else at the Sydney Opera House to have a proper sit down meal before a show. The fine dining option in the Benelong Restaurant is still awaiting a tenant. Not much of a drawcard for one of Sydney’s tourist meccas
We had a pre dinner meal here and it was most disappointing. Despite the convenience right in front of theatre we will not use it again. Food and drinks overpriced, $8.50 for a beer. One dish was acceptable an eggplant, beans casserole but other mostly inedible. It was a lamb dish that was mostly very undercooked , rubbery pasta. Friends on the same night took the gourmet sandwich pack from another section of the bar, enjoyed same view for a fraction of the price.
