Trapper's Kettle - Belfield

The service was somewhat slow, but it wasn't too problematic. It was a bit challenging to find staff, but the women who were working were putting in a lot of effort. The decor has always been impressive.

The food took quite a while to arrive, which I suspect was due to only one young cook in the kitchen. I noticed four people hanging around there, and two of them seemed to check on the salad and soup section repeatedly, but it appeared that only one person was actually cooking and plating the dishes. I ordered the chicken fried steak with white gravy and mashed potatoes, and the waitress confirmed my choice. Unfortunately, I ended up with a tough chicken fried steak smothered in brown gravy and served with fries instead. The waitress apologized and mentioned we would receive a discount, though I'm not sure if we did. My mother ordered a salad, which was quite small and significantly overpriced. If you're passing through town, I would recommend looking a bit further for a better dining experience.

I can't comment on the quality of the food since we left after waiting 15 minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff. The employees seemed unhurried; one woman even took a seat to chat with someone nearby without offering us water, coffee, or a menu. We decided to go to Java Gypsies instead and were happy with the food, coffee, and service there! To the owners/management: if you’re going to operate as a self-service restaurant, it would be helpful to have menus available at the tables. Additionally, there weren’t any clean tables when we arrived, so we had to settle for a dirty one.

Great local stop off the interstate. Fast friendly service. I had breakfast all day the misses mushroom melt burger, which she was really good!

I would never eat here again! Horrible service and was dirty!
