Bidra med feedbackWe were only on Ischia for the day and headed straight to Il Focolare for lunch having heard it recommended many times. To our disappointement, it turned out it was closed that day for lunch but before we could turn away too mournfully, the chef and his sister welcomed us in. We were treated to such a special experience! Things began deliciously with a plate of phenomenal appetizers followed by scrumptious mains. We sat overlooking the mountain enjoying the view and the beautiful hospitality. The whole amazing visit was topped off by a tour of the kitchen with the chef and a little pot of aperitivo to take home. It was truly the highlight of our trip thank you so much!!!
We went to Il Focolare on the 14 August. We loved it, from the moment we sat down the staff were very attentive. We had the special starters (7 little plates I believe including one incorporating a sunflower) and of course the rabbit. We were also whisked away between courses to meet the kitchen staff (family) and a tour of their wine cellar. Our taxi was due so we could not stay for dessert but we were brought portions of their lemon tart with the bill. We will certainly return on our next visit to Ischia.
What an incredible experience. Highly recommended if you on the island. It's up the mountain and on the farm. We had our hotel call to make a reservation because we didn't want to miss an opportunity to come here. Everyone greeted us as we entered. The atmosphere is so comfy and home style feeling. Our group was excited to try all the local cuisine and the home cooking for the family owned trattoria. We basically let Sylvia make the recommendations and went with all of them. We tired about 10 different dishes (anti pasta) before we got to the main event, which was rabbit (coniglio) Everything we had was AMAZING! There wasn't one thing that we did not like. Everything was so tasty! You will see in my pics. The short pasta (which looks like green beans) was SO good! I tried rabbit (my first time) and it was so well seasoned I didn't even realize it was rabbit. It was so flavorful and full of meat. Came in this big crock pot and you have to eat with your hands. It's a tradition and the family recommends eating that way. So we did. After that we managed to try every desert and they did not disappoint either! So good! The Crème brûlée was to die for! The cheesecake...ugh I'm drooling righting this. The one sister also brought us a special after dinner drink too. After that we met the whole the family and got a behinds the scenes tour of the kitchen and wine celular. Met the two brothers and the 2 sisters. They couldn't have been more nice! Treated us like their family! HIGHLY recommend this place for a Great meal!
Very nice spot , great team , lovely atmosphere . some dishes azre better than other. country food, certainly not very refined but really out of the ordinary. we came back here for a family function and ...for the rabbit
Fantastic, characteristic restaurant, which presents the local chicca of the island: the rabbit to 'ischitana. It is expected that the dish must be requested together with the reservation, which is almost mandatory, given the influx of guests. However, all dishes are up to tradition and the members of the family that manages the premises are warm and prodigal of suggestions, advice and explanations. We had the luck and pleasure to visit the vault of the restaurant, where they told us about the origins of the dish (of land, on an island! , seasoned by the anecdotes on the family. Wine paper at height. Price/performance ratio absolutely good, given the quality (and quantity of the proposed. Try!
