Paddy's Irish Pub - Bar Harbor

I'm not sure why Paddys only has a 3.5-star rating. It served one of the best Reubens I've ever tasted (and I've sampled Reubens from NYC to LA), along with a fantastic rustic Irish soup. Our server Kevin was spot on with his whiskey pairing and was attentive without being overbearing. We can't wait for our next dinner at Paddys!

I was on the verge of giving this place a five-star rating, but my experience took a turn and spoiled a lovely day in Bar Harbor. I wanted to relax at the bar with my friend Lucy and order my favorite drink, the Irish Car Bomb. However, the bartender refused, claiming the name is offensive. Just to clarify, I'm Irish myself, and if I want to order an Irish Car Bomb, I should be allowed to do so. It seems like we have to tiptoe around these silly rules. It's hard not to wonder if those who have made such decisions lean political; their sensitivity is puzzling. Thankfully, I didn't attempt to order my second favorite drink, the Black Cadillac.

We enjoyed lobster crab dip, fish and chips, and French onion soup, paired with some Black and Tans, and everything was fantastic. The fish and chips, in particular, could be among my top five favorites. The restaurant also offers a beautiful view and excellent service. Bar Harbor has many options, and we definitely made a great choice by dining here!

Had a couple beers and their Duck Poutine Fries. They were fantastic and the service was good. One of the few places with a water view if you are lucky enough to sit outside which we were.

I was going to rate a 4 until I visited the rest room. It was pretty bad. Got me wondering about the cleanliness of the kitchen and other dark corners. Hubby loved his corn beef sandwich. My fried fish sandwich was ok. Fries were delicious. Wonderful view overlooking the harbor.
