The Gathering Table - Ballard

Every dish was a taste delight. We had many dishes all parts of the menu, many dishes I had never heard of. But each dish had a unique delicious flavor.

The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, and the waitstaff provided great recommendations.

The food was incredibly tasty. We tried a variety of dishes and they were all excellent. We will definitely be coming back for dinner!

Last night, we visited The Gathering Table for the first time since the change in ownership. We were surprised to see that the layout of the restaurant had changed, with seating now around the perimeter of the dining room. Unfortunately, we were seated near the kitchen entrance, which meant a lot of traffic passing by. The menu has been revamped, with sections for Bouchée, Tapas, Gumbo, and Dinner. We each ordered a Tapas (carpaccio and tuna tartare) and my wife got the Gumbo, while I chose the Dinner (Nkatenkwen and Jambalaya). We enjoyed our starters, finding them flavorful and satisfying. However, the Gumbo and Jambalaya were not what we expected based on their names. Although the flavors of our meals were good, the dishes didn't quite match traditional gumbo and jambalaya dishes. We were also surprised by the lack of local wines available by the glass or on the menu, considering the abundance of wineries in our valley. Overall, we may return to The Gathering Table, but not as frequently as we used to. We would still recommend it to a friend looking for something different.

The restaurant setting is lovely. Small dining room but did not feel crowded. Fireplace and throw pillows on the banquette. George, our server, gave us excellent service. The menu is limited and very eclectic. We shared 4 of the bouchées. The beef curry buns, the uni and caviar on hash browns, the Abalone mushrooms with a pureed like chimichurri sauce and the beef slider. The uni and caviar dish (very small so we ordered one for each of us) and the mushrooms were excellent. The beef curry buns were more bun than beef. Taste was very good but too much bread. Nothing special about the slider. We ordered the smoked halibut with caviar . Very disappointing. Not much flavor for a beautiful piece of fish.
