Horace Sylvia's Publick House - Babylon

We were able to make a reservation on a Saturday night 45 minutes before going (not really a good sign on a Saturday night). The food was best moderate, and the service could have been better (but our food was waiting until we were almost ready to see if we needed anything). There are far better restaurants in Babylon Village (and surrounding cities) to get a delicious meal with better service. (Sidenote, although the decor is beautiful inside, the ceiling must really be new, it reminded me of the old white ceiling tiles found in cellars).

The food was fantastic! Our waitress was great! The host visited our table to ensure that we were satisfied with our meal, and if additional or the kitchen needed to solidify our meal, which was perfect. This was not our first time here and we always come back because our meals are always perfect and always satisfied!

It's more of diner like setting and quite noisy and loud. The food and service were good not rushed, but not stellar. I enjoyed my entree of eggplant meatballs over juilienne cut squash, but my appetizer of pork pot stickers seemed like it was micro waved and tasteless. A nice neighborhood place, but I wouldn't travel too far to go there.

I went for date night with my boyfriend on Saturday. We were sat in the booths in the bar area. It was the NFL playoffs so it was decently noisy and the acoustics were not great. However, the food was very good and I loved that they had healthy options. I had the shrimp al forno which came with zucchini noodles and my boyfriend got the Chicken Forrestal which should have been with risotto and they gave him mashed potatoes. Not a huge travesty but when we addressed it with the waiter, he said the chef was new and either didn't know the dishes or messed up. Not a great indicator. The service was lacking despite it being pretty empty. We had to wait about 10 minutes and ask 2 other employees for our check as our waiter never came back to check on us. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable but there is definitely room for improvement.
