Bidra med feedbackQuite a pleasant pub and restaurant with an attractive menu, also with accommodation. Never really happy when service is added to the bill.
Called here just for drinks as we were breaking up a long journey home and the interesting name intrigued us lol. Lovely place with great views and really friendly staff! Dog friendly and the food we saw being served looked delicious, we will most definitely be calling back here to sample the menu when we are next in the area. Great viewing place to watch red kites as well we saw several huge ones while sat outside, you're so high up you can see them really clearly. Return visit most definitely on the cards!
We drove from Suffolk for a family get together with my son and his family who live in walking distance and again chose the Mole and Chicken not just because it’s convenient but we always receive a friendly greeting, delicious food and great service. They are great with my 2 yr old granddaughter and have a children’s menu. I always have the roast beef and it is so good. I followed it today with a lemon posset which was a good choice. If you’re looking for somewhere in the area try the Mole and Chicken, it’s not cheap but good value. If you want to sit outside for a drink you’ll be treated to stunning views across the Aylesbury Vale.
My friend had chosen (and boasted) about this restaurant for our party of nine from his excellent previous culinary experiences here. I had chosen the salmon starter, a disappointing pencil thickness piece of tough salmon with a few dobs of beetroot/crisp perhaps, I should have said something then. My mains consisted of overcooked fish finger of Cod with luke warm peas and chips this really didn 't impress the fish look like a toilet roll size lump rather than a lightly bread crumbed flaky, translucent piece of cod? How to ruin a British staple? Another of our party commented the same. Our party in general had good meals so my was such a shame as the staff were great, service was quick and the pub and view was fantastic. Perhaps M&C look at changing the fish options!
Nice enough pub with ok accommodation. Our room was quite compact with a bathroom separated by a curtain. Upstairs room creaked and you could hear every movement of the people upstairs. Breakfast was of nice quality (a bit cold and so was the coffee) but the really odd thing about the place was the atmosphere, I felt like I was in a school being watched over by the particularly grumpy bar/checking in member of staff. Breakfast was particularly awkward with everyone eating in near silence. When I 'd phoned about checking in because we were at a wedding we wouldn 't likely be able to come during the designated period I was told I had to because we 're just a b&b requiring us to leave the wedding to go and just be given a key although there was a key lock box on the accommodation. When I came to pay I had the card machine silently slid towards me. Definitely had the feeling that this member of staff needed a week off because guests were too much trouble. I wouldn 't rush back if I 'm honest.
