Fresa's South First - Austin

The food is out of this world, but the service is unresponsive. If you are ordering for pickup or delivery, they don't respond to text messages, and they don't have a phone service. If you have some allergen concerns or food quality concerns, then you are on your own. I hope they can do better.Dietary restrictions: They don't label and don't provide an allergen menu

Fresa’s food was great. We sat inside, and it was a welcomed respite from the very hot mid summer walk we had just taken on South Congress. My ten year old had a little trouble with his spicy shrimp tacos, but my husband and I loved our food. The queso was the big hit for the whole group. I found the service to be good and the prices reasonable. The only off putting interaction was with the hostess who seated us. We had a reservation for an indoor table at 5:30 pm. It was not at all crowded. The hostess made sure to tell us that the next reservation on our table was at 7:15 and that we needed to be finished with our meal by that time. I’ve never had this experience at a restaurant before casual dining or otherwise and it seemed inhospitable and unnecessary. If this is common practice, I’d advise against it. Other than that, we loved the dining experience and would recommend Fresa’s.

Really enjoyed this place? I was worried about sitting outside in the heat because I drain energy quickly but it is actually very well covered it was nice. Loved the Yucatan spiced chicken. The bathroom was pretty decent as well. No complaints from meFood: 5/5

First time here on Father’s Day 2023 and I must say. I was impressed. I had the Yucatán Spice Chicken in Dark meat and it was fantastic! My wife ordered the Ribeye and I must say; WOW!!! So tender and full of taste!!! I will definitely return because I’m sure the rest of the menu will be just as good! The atmosphere is nice and the staff was very friendly!

Possibly the best restaurant I've found since moving to Austin. Relaxing atmosphere and of course the chicken is absolutely a must to order, whether on a salad or as a platter. Happy hour prices for apps and drinks will make you smile. Excellent service from someone who cares was also appreciated. Get there at the start of happy hour or make a reservation to get a seat as it fills quickly. Limited parking so you may have to street park.
