Bidra med feedbackFor those not from the area, forever ago this used to be The Little Wheel. Think late 70's early 80's in it's heyday if there ever was one. Even funnier, about 100 yards west you entered a dry county. So conservative that you couldn't but beer locally till 2003. Hence, the first chance last chance small sign that was roadside for years. Even in the morning when I was growing up headed to school in Austin. Perhaps the staff forgot to remove the small sign when they closed the night before. I've been here a few times over the years; recently started frequenting 290 with my new girlfriend to play some pool and have a few adult beverages. Prices are reasonable, and after a few beers I've snagged an Irish coffee with Jameson whiskey. Staff is friendly even though there isn't much more than bar service. Every night I've visited there isn't waiter service. It would be nice on busier nights when live music is playing. Also, despite their best efforts they can't seem to keep the pool tables level. Some nights it eats your quarters too.
This is a nice little bar where you can just be yourself.....or be someone completely different. Our little group has picked this little dive bar for our semi monthly Tarted Up Tuesday shenanigans. The first time I was blonde Monika with a K , trying to relive her past high school glory before her failed marriage to the high school football punter. And I met with Appolonia, with her mass of long black curls and her looooow cut top. The next time I was purple Daveen in unicorn gear, and met with the ever sassy, ever klassy pink Mia and the saucy redhead, Fara (and our men of course). Each time we descend upon this place, we have a great time. Get a few looks from regular patrons (hoping to be regular patrons ourselves at some point), but never any hassle (and instead making new friends). The bartendress has always been great, fast and pouring stiff drinks. And who doesn 't like a little Unicorn Cum, every now and then? Altho, they really should serve that shot with a spoon or one of those big milkshake straws to get every last drop. Last time we brought in our own Pieous Pizza as well. They have a great jukebox that Mia absolutely loves to play her Motown soul on and a couple of pool tables. I hope Tarted Up Tuesdays will continue for a long time...I have a lot more personalities to explore.
I have been a patron of this bar for more than 10 years, and the salty brunette bartender is only half the draw. The customers make the bar, and they give you a heartfelt welcome whether you are newcomers or old timers. Long may her neon light the darkness.
Awesome place! Don 't know about the food as I was told the only food we have here is the kind you drink out of a glass Fine with me gimme a wild turkey medium rare and a side of shiner draft! Great bartender and great service Real country music plays here If you get in a fight just go with it, ain 't no good Texas bar without someone getting slapped around If you lost your drink, drink faster! Definitely will be back
You wouldn't think that you could get a five star burger here, but I have been back three times for it !! It's a small boot scoot'n bar off 290 going towards dripping springs but still in Austin. The staff are friendly and very happy to have you there. You can play pool or put some coins into the juke box while your personal burger is being cooked up in the back. The cook is proud to serve his delicious burger and takes pride in his art ! It's a treasure of a find and not crazy busy. You can relax and enjoy your meal
