Bidra med feedbackGood sushi and sashimi are hard to find. I found it. I rarely pass along this side of Yonge St on Wellington, and so if it weren't for the big visible sign, I would have missed out. I stopped in for a late dinner, and the place was nearly empty. That worried me, but the greeting and service were so friendly that I forged on. I ordered the Chirashi bowl, with a variety of nice sashimi slices on a bed of rice. Even the sliced octopus was not rubbery, which is more than I can say about many other sushi joints. I also tried the spicy miso soup, which certainly sits right on the edge of the heat scale for me. Overall, this restaurant has potential. I'll be back.
O Genki replaced the former tenant Maple Sushi which was quite honestly, the worst sushi place in Aurora never mind it's subpar service. With that in mind, I wasn't entirely heartbroken to see Maple close it's doors. Sometime later, I noticed the O Genki sign this past summer and made a mental note to myself to check it out I figured it was one of two things: new ownership, OR an entire overhaul. When I entered, I held my breath the interior was pretty much the same as Maple Sushi, with exceptions being made to the wall art... but I was quickly pleased to learn that was about all they shared in similarities. The service at O Genki is NEXT level. The serving staff go above and beyond to ensure you're happy with everything, or to let you know of any immediate delays you may experience (as this isn't an AYCE restaurant, everything is made FRESH to order that includes things like yam tempura rolls. The spicy miso soup is unreal and is something I frequently find myself craving. They also have a fantastic lunch combo where you can get two different rolls for $11. Whether you're looking for a sit down meal or a to go order, O Genki is a must for your sushi fix.
Moved into the Aurora and was seriously missing all the great sushi in Richmond Hill and Markham. Stumbled upon O Genti during a walk and happy to say, I can get my sushi fix nearby now! Sushi is fresh, rice is spot on and quite a variety of rolls. Owners are really nice too. I hope everyone gives this place a try, as I like it the best from the choices up in this area :
