The decor is fancy with subtle geometric touches, including a wall of wine bottles. The menu includes classics from the hotel lounge, such as hot dogs, burgers, and fish and chips. While the cheese plate was decent, the sweet potato wedges weren't to my liking. The fish and chips were crispy and delicious, but the Waikato pork was overly salty. The service was friendly but a bit slow due to understaffing. Overall, The Tapestry is an acceptable dining option, but the prices are a bit high for the portion sizes. I may give it another try in the future, but it's not a place I'm eagerly returning to.
Situated inside the Pullman Hotel, this cozy restaurant offers indulgent Continental cuisine in the heart of downtown Auckland. As expected, many dishes feature seafood due to its coastal location. Our group tried the oysters, which were fresh but a bit too briny for my liking. The Tom Yum soup became overly sour as the meal progressed. While the tuna looked stunning, it was dry and lacked flavor. However, the standout dish was the gnocchi - light and fluffy with a delicious sauce. Our bill for 5 people, including a bottle of wine, came to nearly $200, which we considered a good value. Despite some misses, I would still be willing to return.
