Le lion d'or - Aubusson

In all the restaurants we tried in Aubusson we have only eaten here twice. Once was the first week we moved to France and found the service was poor and staff grumpy. The second visit we found their attitude to vegetarians (we were with meat...eating friends before anyone asks why veggies go to a steak house) Our food was a lot of inconvenience for them. Service was still poor. We do not eat at this restaurant any more and don't recommend it either. If you are French steak eater then I am sure you will do better than English Veggies.

Traditional indoor/outdoor, promt efficient service and...good food. A' la carte or menu du jour everything is well served, local plates, honest portion good wine selection and draft beer.

Looking at the amount of guests every day at noon and the difficulty to get a table you don't have to be a genius to get that this is the place to be in Aubusson. We had lunch twice and as well the vegetarian salad...as the steak were great value for money. Sitting on the terrace was a nice extra to listen to the lively French conversations. Try the cafe gourmand!

Found this restaurant at the top end of Aubusson and enjoyed a delightful lunch. They were full inside (a good sign) so ate outside. Nice clean restaurant with friendly staff.

Good quality food, excellent service. Good selection of different dishes available. Catered well for one meat eater one vegetarian.
