I was in Attalla/Gadsden for a couple of days and I have to say it is worth the trip over from Gadsden for Southern BBQ Co. I had a large brisket sandwich and onion rings. Being from a big BBQ town, this is going against the grain, but I prefer this style. It was extremely tender and fatty. Compared to brisket in Kansas City, as an example, there is much less chew. This brisket just melts in your mouth. Not everyone will prefer this style, but the alternative in the area was essentially pot roast with some really awful sauce on it. Speaking of the sauce, it is one of the best I've ever had. I don't want the sauce to overpower the meat, and this sauce is just a perfect compliment to that fatty beef, not either too sweet or too tangy. Also they don't do anything fancy with the bun. This is just straight-forward, good old southern bbq. If you are an onion ring fanatic like me, these were a real treat. They are large, meaty, fresh cut rings. Really glad there is good bbq in this area. Whenever I am back here Southern BBQ Co. is must stop.
We were in town on business and was looking for a place for lunch. We try to avoid the chain restaurants when traveling and usually look for something local and authentic. We definitely found that here! Service with a smile and that southern hospitality from the moment stepped up to the window. It was some of the best bbq we have ever had. The pitmaster has it down to a science ? we are in then fur a couple more days and already planning our next meal here again!
We tried out this cute little place last weekend and the food was delicious. The barbecue chicken and pork was very tender and the sauce had a great taste.
