Bidra med feedbackSuperb classic hole in the wall, bartender was pouring heavy and they have a jukebox and casino games, my type of bar….
Sat in the bar and had dinner and drinks on the Fourth of July. It was fairly busy. The bartender was very attentive and efficient. The food was delicious. My friend and I both got steaks that were cooked perfectly. I love the smoking patio with myst sprayers to keep you cool.
Dead flowers adorn the sticky table. Bright harsh uninspired lighting. Initially thought the tempura calamari was good but after 4 or so pieces we discovered they weren't actually whole pieces of calamari, aka tubes, rings or tentacles. They were small shredded pieces of calamari mixed into a batter which, on the larger lumps, were not completely cooked. Acoustics were dreadful. Couldn't hear the person next to me. The fish and chips wasn't cod or halibut. I think it must have been snapper or some other kind of fish. It was soft. Not much flavor to the batter. The “chips were actually large spear-shaped hunks of potatoes. Wouldn't go back. We left a good tip, however bcz the waitresses were pretty attentive.
This was the first time here for me. We arrived at 4:50 pm for my birthday dinner. We had to enter through a busy bar and was seated in the lunch area. As soon as the actual restaurant opened up at 5, we asked to be relocated into the restaurant. I ordered the NY Strip steak. It came with baked potato and veggies. I have to say that this steak was the best steak I have ever eaten! I usually need steak sauce, but I sure did not need it. My wife ordered the Prime Rib. She was also impressed! Everything was so good, including the service! Since it was my birthday, they gave me this giant ice cream sundae with vanilla ice cream, freshly whipped cream, toasted almonds, a dish of warm chocolate sauce, and it was topped with a lit candle. The waitress, my wife, and some of the other diners sang Happy Birthday to me. It was the best birthday dinner I 've had in years!
Calamari so tender with lightly crunchy, melt in your mouth batter: soooo good! Historic 40's 50's atmosphere and nice service Pictured are the Cobb salad and the few pieces of Calamari I had to restrain myself from devouring so I could take them home for my mom to try! The bar side is dark, but the restaurant side is comfortable and pleasant
