Spent over £30 to have our dinner come out on a small cardboard dish and wooden cutlery. Portion size was rubbish and to cut the over cooked fish on top of chips was hard enough let alone with rubbish cutlery. Apparently all to do with covid rules. Which there are none now. Won't be going back luckily my child with ASD didn't meltdown as that was his favourite place to ear.
My partner and I visited this establishment and we both ordered cod and chips. We sat down. It arrived to our table in a plastic bag, with the sauces flung in there too. There was one fork each. No knives. So I guess it is assumed everyone who eats there, does so with their hands, in this joint. I never saw this method of table service before, it was an education! Like experiencing a new culture! Onto the food. I am pretty much 100% sure that the fish inside the battered coating was not cod, but a cheap alternative such as pollock, as I noticed it had zero taste. I am sure that if we ordered the haddock and chips it would taste the exact same, because that is also probably pollock and chips too, dressed in a haddock and chips disguise. I also think that they batch cook the battered fish, and then microwave it to warm it up, because, on the inside of it, my cod was hotter than the sun! Several hours after eating my tongue is still burnt!
The food was brought to our table in cardboard boxes inside a plastic bag. The menu had a small selection of food and drinks, all of which were overpriced. We only received one knife for each person, and there were no napkins provided. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience and will not be returning to this restaurant.
My partner and I took a stroll along the beach promenade and decided to stop at the Gallery Restaurant Tea Rooms for a couple of coffees. We sat outside and enjoyed our drinks in the sunshine, as the weather was lovely. The coffees were excellent and reasonably priced. The restaurant is conveniently located near toilet facilities and next to Harbour Park Amusements, although it was closed on the day of our visit. The interior of the restaurant has a nautical theme, with navy memorabilia adorning the walls and ceiling. While we only had drinks, the food looked appetizing based on what others were eating. The staff were friendly and helpful.
