Bidra med feedbackNot even close to poke etc in Carson. 1/2 the portions and 1/2 the service. It's worth the drive to go-to Carson poke
Ok, the poke itself is pretty good. But here's the issue, they use jasmine rice with poke. You have to use sushi rice. I love the prices but hated the Jasmine rice. Jasmin rice is dryer and harder. Sushi rice is softer and more moist. The texture is noticeable. Very noticeable Portion size is decent for the price paid. Inflation after all
Came here yesterday to try this poke spot and it was so good!! My boyfriend and I ordered the 2 Flavor bowls. I got the Cali Hawaiian and Sweet Spicy salmon poke; he got the Sweet Spicy and Garlic Spice ahi tuna poke. We both loved it. At first glance it looks like there's too much rice to poke ratio, but it's actually perfect... or we could've used a few more bites of rice. The poke flavors are so yummy and has a ton of flavor and sauce. Our favorite was definitely the sweet spicy flavor and we can't wait to come back to try some of the other flavors off the menu. Be warned, the garlic spice does have quite a kick to it so if you order two flavors of poke, I'd suggest getting a more mild flavor/one without spiciness to it.
Went here over the weekend after a bit of searching for a good poke place and it did not disappoint! My review is centred around the poke that's sold by the half or full pound and nothing else off the menu, so keep that in mind. What I ordered: Tuna Basic spice: My absolute favourite poke mix; an amazing amount of spiceness and garlic mixed in, complimenting the tuna. Get it!! Garlic spice: Got a creaminess going with this mix that it's hard to not recommend it. Cali Hawaiian: Loved the mix of crab, furikake, and tuna; definitely my third favourite flavour. Shoyu: That soy sauce tuna always hits right and the umami flavour only works to enhance the overall dish. My partner loved this, so definitely recommend it, but it was a little salty for me absolutely nothing against the dish; I just haven't adapted to high sodium levels is all as I grew up predominantly salt free most of my life. Salmon Sweet spicy: Not too bad; I wish I had gotten basic spice flavoured salmon as that would have been more to my liking. Personally not a huge fan of sweet pokes, but I tried it and wasn't bad! Nice crunch thanks to the onions. Pricing wise, it's $18.95 for tuna and $16.95 for salmon at least when I went (October 2022). I love both fish types, but definitely prefer tuna to salmon when it comes to poke. The establishment is cash or Zelle only, so please remember that there's a sign by the front display that states this, and a Zelle QR code to scan once you've opened Zelle through your bank app. I paid Zelle because I rarely have cash, let alone $60 to cover my total order. It's in a shopping strip, so tonnes of parking. Easy to get to; not much seating inside besides one table more of a grab and style place. I took all my order to go and ate it with rice (or by itself).
Plates and bowls are decent priced however, small portions, both the fish and rice ratio. We ordered a plate $10.99) with both salmon and the flavours were not quite as strong compared to other poke joints. The Cali Hawaiian was better tasting compared to Limu. I was very impressed with their selection of drinks having been to Hawaii myself!
