Bidra med feedbackI visited a restaurant in Annascaul and ordered fish and chips. Overall, it was average. The portion size of the fish was small, which was disappointing considering the price. However, they made up for it with the generous amount of chips. The curry sauce was delicious according to one of my companions, while another loved the heap of fries. All three of us agreed that the food was good, but we were all disappointed by the small size of the fish given the cost. The waitress who served us was very kind.
I came in after a large family group had arrived ..... they all ordered food ! Bartender cheerfully took my order ... I figured might be a bit of a wait ...there were only two staff one of them was the cook Pleasantly...surprised to only wait about minutes, about the time I would have expected a Shepherd's Pie would take to heat up. It was delicious, exactly like I would have made ... authentically home made'. The family group ordered sausages chips (thumbs up), Guinness stew (also thumbs up). Another member ordered the fish chips .... but she wasn't so impressed ! Cosy fire, friendly staff, good food.
I Heard lovely things about the fish and chips. i live close to the premises so i wanted to try it with my partner and child. Unfortunately, the fish was severely overcooked and the chips were so hard they werent fit for consumption. Id like...to try again as a second chance is only fair, but to be charged for a meal that we couldn't eat upset me. The girl serving was lovely though.
You basically have two dining options in Annascaul. This one has a sign out front saying it has the best food. Caveat big time emptor. I wrote a previous review of the Irish Stew at this place that was not published, and it was much...more detailed. My ten year old though the burger was fine he was super hungry that evening, and as they say, hunger is the best sauce. If you don't eat for a few days before you eat here, it should all work out.
We went there tonight for diner. The bartender is really nice and welcome us with the usual Irish amability. A short list of local food, with very reasonnable price. The choice is quickly made and the order taken. We took the opportunity to play some...darts during the preparation but it came quickly we didn't even finish the game. My fish and chips was great and freshly made. The vegetarian taco came with a lots of onion and unfortunately my girl has IBS so she can't eat. We move swiftly after that in order to find some food for her in the store beside. But even if it wasn't his fault, the bartender offered us the beer. What a nice gesture. As you can see, you can go there blindfoled and don't eat and still have a great time!
