Jack Astor's - Ancaster

My friend took me here, insisting I had to try the beer and cheese soup.

This was one of the worst experiences we have ever had at a Jack Astor's restaurant. The portion sizes were noticeably smaller compared to our previous visits, yet they charged the same prices. The pad thai we ordered was served lukewarm and lacked any flavor. The Mexican chicken dish was also bland and served ice cold. Even the fries that came with the burger were cold. The quality of the food was subpar and not up to the usual standards of this establishment. When we mentioned our dissatisfaction to the server, he informed us that the pad thai recipe had changed and he always hesitated when people ordered it. Why was this not mentioned before we placed our order? Overall, this was the worst dining experience we have had in many years. The kitchen needs to work on improving the taste and execution of their dishes.

Ordered take out from our local Jack’s. 2 orders of chicken fingers with fries and one order chicken fingers with slaw and one order of chicken fingers with salad. Salad and slaw were ok. All orders of fingers overcooked and dry and barely warm. Fries...dry and cold. We live literally 2 minutes away. We are trying to support out local eateries but this was very disappointing. I suspect meals were prepared early in the day and perhaps reheated. Oder was prompt. Kelsey’s’s last week was great hot and tasty burger and fries.
