Bayside Grill - ALERT BAY

The Fish and Chips was fantastic ! The owners were very friendly , perfect location right on the Main Street in Alert Bay right off the Ferry .

This had the best tandoori halibut I have ever had anywhere! The restaurant is unassuming but the service is friendly and the food (especially the curries) is delicious!

You are in a small place and looking for something to eat - here you will get decent but basic food in a plain environment. We had the fish curry for dinner and enjoyed it . Also went there for breakfast and they made a good omelet. Everything has to be looked at in context. If back in Alert Bay would eat there again. Would be better if the TV was not constantly on.

We came to Alert Bay for the culture, the totem poles, the whale watching. All of these were huge successes.We would come back for Mona's curries, especially but not limited to the Halibut Tandoori.The decor is sort of traditional 1968 coffee shop, with large screen TV added. DO NOT BE FOOLED by this. Dev and Mona are warm and wonderful hosts and the food is very good, especially the Indian menu items. Portions good, prices very fair.On a 2 day visit planned to eat here the first night. Ate every meal here. Can get a great steak or burger in a lot of places. Curry this good is rare.

Stopped in for breaky... had the standard eggs hash browns bacon toast...hard to mess up really. Service was prompt and friendly.They also had some Indian food on their menu...some tandoori treats? Never tried that part of the menu...but might be worth trying if your looking for a lunch or early dinner?For breakfast though.. very tasty.
