The food is not of the same quality it used to be. It was okay but we were a bit disappointed. Less choices, French toast tasted like very stale bread to a point of being distasteful. No cheeses, dessert selection was limited and of poor quality. The apple strudel was very disappointing. Had some kind of cream cheese in it that was a big turn off for me. Chicken dish was unappetizing looking. Prawns were good. Egg Benedict was ok. Scrambled eggs had no flavor at all. Overall it was okay but not good enough to go back.
Mr A’s Patio provides the best buffets in Metro Vancouver. Especially the Sunday buffet is highly recommendable. They do offer a lot of vegetarian dishes and the staffs are friendly.
I was so excited to take my grandson to Newlands buffet today in Langley. We had planned this for the last 2 weeks and had made our reservations for noon. My husband and I use to frequent Newlands buffet many years ago and I told my grandson he was going to love it. When we got there, I saw 1 table with about 7 hot dishes on it right beside the hostess station. My grandson looked a bit worried, but I told him to relax. We would get our table and then see all the other tables of food. Sadly, beside the salad bar, that was the only food other than the small desert table. Ok we were there now, so we will make the most of it. I ordered a mimosa and my grandson a drink and we headed up to get our food. The salad was watery and warm and after a couple of bites I did not eat any more of it. The hot food was a pork dish, tandoori chicken, salmon, rice, fried potatoes and a pasta dish. It looked like there was a soup option but it was empty when we were there. We got back to our table and started to eat. The chicken was so tough and dry that after one bite we determined it was not edible. I took my spoon and tapped it and it made a thumping sound like you would get if you were tapping a rubber ball. The salmon was ok but very bland with little to no flavor in the sauce. The potatoes were well over cooked. So after a couple of bites we decided that desert had to be better. My grandson and I did not have more than 3 bites of our food. Desert was good and the selection ok. I did get us some fruit salad as well but after taking one bite of the pineapple, decided not to eat more. The pineapple was as hard as biting into an unripe apple. Honestly, do the chefs not taste the food they prepare or serve? The mimosa was just as awful as the meal. It was on the warm side and the champagne they used was flat. All in all it was the worst buffet I have ever been to. I pointed out some of the issues I had to our server but she seemed remarkably unconcerned. So disappointing that the experience did not live up to the hype on their website. The really great thing about our experience was the wonderful company of my grandson and the giggles we shared over the awful food. We will have a good story of that experience to share with other friends and loved ones.
My husbands 60th birthday was a nightmare from the time I phoned to make reservations until the time we went upstairs to the live band , that was great.Food not great at Mr. A , called a few times to arrange for the 20 people I had coming and nothing was done as promised . Very embarrassing to apologize to guests who had no where to sit , no service for 45 min. Just awful .Had to ask for assistance 4 times .Will NEVER come back.
