Bidra med feedbackLa Salle a Manger means "the dining room". Our group of 6 celebrating a mini-college reunion in Aix-en-Provence, felt as if we were welcomed into our family dining room on a chilly raining evening in October. As we were looking for a pleasant restaurant for our last evening in Aix, dodging rain and reading posted menus we happened upon La Salle a Manger. The menu offered some provençale items and the hostess invited us into her warm dining area. We chose to order from the "formule" menu. We started with goat cheese grilled on sliced baguette, then I had the lamb with fried potatoes, zucchini, and a lovely salad of tomatoes, greens and bits of ham with house dressing. So good! For dessert creme brûlée sounded great, and it was. Our host and hostess were very helpful, and pleasant to chat with, the house wine suggestion was good, and the meal was very reasonably priced. It turned our chilly damp evening into a pleasant, "family" dining experience, a fitting ending to our mini-reunion. I highly recommend it. Bon appétit!
Intrigued by the charming exterior, I went in and found it just as charming and cozy inside. In fact, it felt like a sweet oasis from the hustle and bustle of other places in the busier streets, and the food and wine were delightful. The woman who has served me both times I've been is warm and friendly, as was a man who passed by from the kitchen and was apparently the cook (one or both might be owners). I was really happy to find a place that feels so comfortable and provides such good food at surprisingly reasonable prices, and I'll definitely return often during the few months I'll be in Aix.
We currently live in Aix and found this restaurant early this Fall. We have visited it 3 different times. Excellent food! It is a family owned restaurant and they care about their customers experience. The food is fresh and delicious. We have had fish every time and I think they offer some of the best fish dishes in Aix. They have a great wine selection as well. Order the Profiteroles for dessert - you won't disappointed!!
This little gem is tucked in on a side street in AixFriendly service with exceptionally prepared cuisine, this owner operator bistro is a must.
Restaurant in a small alley of elves. deco very vieillotte , wait fairly long and dishes not very elaborate and small portions, otherwise the waitress was nice polite , prices fairly high for the service ..
