Bidra med feedbackFrom Gennaro, Anna-Maria, Nino, and their family and staff, a heartfelt farewell was given today (2/10/2017) as Alfonso's Continental restaurant closes its doors.
This restaurant is the perfect spot to have a leisurely weekend breakfast with friends.
I recently had a casual outdoor dinner at Al's on Hutt Street. It seems to be a well-established spot based on what I've heard.
When you step into Alfonso's, it's like visiting family along the Amalfi coast of Tuscany. Warm, unpretentious staff and surroundings. The food is beautifully and abundantly served up...just like nanna and nonno would. We had the whitebait (spiced with a little chill and garlic), involtini served on a tasty slab of grilled polenta, vitello (pan fried and complimented with prosciutto, potato and cannellini beans). Simply wonderful! Only regret...no room for desert.
It is a very cold winter afternoon and we were looking for somewhere comfortable and warm but not stuffy to sit and have a meal before I go for my annual mammogram ( I am a Cancer Survivor ) . We were walking around this area which is close to where I am to have my mammogram in another one and half hours time. There were so many Trendy cafes and restaurants so it was a difficult choice. Eventually after walking around and reading the menus on display outside and as we were scanning through this place's menu a Beautiful Lady came out and told us if you are looking for something to eat I highly recommend the Seafood Linguine. We thought ..Oh ...she had not asked her to sit down and that she would be with us shortly but straightaway recommended a dish....Ok we decided we will take her offer on that and we weren't disappointed at all. We are definitely coming back with families. The price was fabulously fair , service was a BEAUTIFUL SMILE and she knows what she is talking about and the seating was perfect for a cold afternoon - plenty of fresh air with warmth .......There was an inside dining room as well but everyone chose to sit outside in the warmth and fresh air. The entrance is by the side...Like most Mediterranean restaurants/cafes there were coffee and cakes which we did not have room for but we are definitely coming back to try the other dishes on the menu and their coffees and cakes.
