A pie and split peas, what is the big deal? Well to look at even, not anything you would raise an eye brow. This is one of those food gems that is so simple , but are one of the best combinations a person can try! Why? People would ask! I don't have an answer on specifics, the most pleasant taste, and I don't know of any one that likes split pies and pies ever say no, in most cases it is a new thing that will stay with a person for good. Normally a pie floater is a great brunch, lunch, and the expire nice doesn't come with fancy restaurant dinning, or price tag, but if you are in S.A. you won't go wrong with a light breakfast and coffee and get stuck into a pie floater about 11pm, well that's how I do it. SIMPLE! But unforgettable!
A "floater" is a unique South Australian dish that consists of a bowl of hot pea soup with a meat patty topped with tomato sauce. Travelers in South Australia should definitely try a floater at least once, as it is surprisingly delicious.
You can't leave Adelaide without South Australia's most famous dish to try the floaters. A floater is a bowl of pea soup with a meat cake floating in it, with tomato sauce (Ketchup) above. It's really delicious. I've eaten the floats several times and always enjoyed it.
Give it a shot. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but form your own opinion about this iconic Adelaide establishment.
