Located inside the Michi no Eki in Hidaka-cho near the Nisshogoe Pass, this restaurant is a must-stop for me whenever I drive towards the eastern part of Hokkaido. Across the pass is the famous soba producing town of Niikappu, but I always make sure to take a break and have a meal here. My top recommendation is the tempura rice bowl set, which comes with seasonal mountain vegetables (such as udo and fiddlehead ferns) in the spring for a truly enjoyable experience. The soba noodles here are also delicious, made with a flavorful handcrafted broth. Another must-try is the mountain trout tempura, which I always order in addition to the set meal. The tempura dishes are also available for takeout, making them a perfect gift for family and friends.
